Fata x Sirius

Fata Morgana x Sirius

Release Year: 2014

Description

It was a visually stunning meaningful moment. The very first time of Fata Morgana and Sirius were on stage together.

This DVD consists of Fata Morgana’s significant repertoire. The Galloping Comedians is a tune that Fata Morgana picked up from the Hotcha-Trio, a famous Dutch harmonica trio from some decades ago. Especially in concerts abroad, Fata Morgana likes to play this piece as a tribute to one of their idols in the harmonica scene.

The song Save The Last Dance For Me has an emotional meaning to one of the players of Fata Morgana. It’s the favourite song of his parents. On his special request, Fata Morgana made a special arrangement of this song and played it on their wedding anniversary. It is, now, also one of Fata Morgana’s favourite songs.

Toledo, one of the most popular harmonica pieces, was joint-performed by two groups. This idea started off with that when Sirius presented their album to Fata Morgana. They became aware that Fata Morgana have their own version of Toledo, hence, two groups decided to make it an “orchestra”.

What makes this concert meaningful and memorable is that, at the early stage of development, Fata Morgana and their music have been the main source of inspiration and guidance for Sirius Harmonica Ensemble. Fata Morgana have been one of the world-leading harmonica virtuosos during the time when Sirius had just started off.

This friendship begins with a little story of international banking for CDs purchased in 2002. Ten years later in the “fifth” World Harmonica Festival 2013, Sirius met Fata Morgana for the first time. The “banking issue” reminded Fata Morgana of the encounter ten years ago. The successive friendship developed and from it an invitation to a joint concert in Taiwan arose.

Despite this being the first concert of Fata Morgana in Asia, their music has been widely known in Taiwan for many years.

This DVD records this delightful and fantastic moment and wishes to bring you a brand new vision of the harmonica ensemble music.
